It is set to become a flagship mall of the company.
During a briefing on Tuesday, September 1, SM Supermalls President Steven Tan formally announced the opening date of its second mall in Sta. Rosa, Laguna—SM Nuvali.
The said outlet, positioned as one of the flagships of the mall chain, will open as its 91st location in the Philippines on November 27.
He noted that amomg the key features of the new mall is a 1-hectare indoor garden, which he told will use a technology similar to that of the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore by allowing the sunlight to pass through a two-layer membrane, but also move trapped heat out of the building using exhausts.
Tan underscored: “SM Nuvali is something I myself have never seen anywhere in the world,” noting the technoligy they are using for this mall.
The company official also noted their optimism that these investments will “endear” the new branch to the public.
“Innovation is key. Innovation, again, is not a one-time bigtime thing, but everyday, constantly, you have to keep on innovating because the consumers’ preference has always been changing as well,” he also noted.
In a previous disclosure, SM Prime said that SM Nuvali is a “premier mall” with sustainability integrated into its design and operations—complete with solar panels, water recycling systems and energy-efficient lighting supporting the operation of more than 82,000 square meters of gross leasable area.
Moreover, the new lifestyle mall will also feature 24 EV (electric vehicle) charging stations, a Trash-to-Cash recycling program, and an e-waste collection facility.
It will also have playgrounds and paw park, larger nature-inspired spaces such as Sky pods, premium restaurants and a number of global brands.
There will also be a bridgeway that will connect the mall to Park Inn by Radisson and SMX Trade Hall, which are currently being developed by SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation.
To complement the area’s eco-community master plan and laid-back lifestyle, SM Nuvali will also include large non-retail spaces, including open-air promenades, green zones and lifestyle areas, the mall giant revealed.
Jeffrey Lim, President of SM Prime said at that time: “SM Nuvali marks the first of five flagship malls we plan to open annually from 2026 to 2030,” referencing the slate that includes the Harrison Plaza in Manila (2027), SM Malolos in Bulacan (2028), a new mall in an undisclosed city in Cavite (2029), and another one in an unnamed Pasay location !(2030).
“This reflects our confidence in high-growth regional markets and our commitment to building integrated destinations that support long-term value creation,” furthered Lim.
The development of the NV Towers, an SM Offices project, is also underway.
Meanwhile, in the first half of 2026, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. reported a net income of PHP24.5 billion, which was steady from a year earlier, as costs and expenses eclipsed revenue growth.
Total revenues grew 5 percent year-on-year to PHP71.7 billion from PHP68.0 billion, with rental income from malls, offices, hospitality and MICE accounting for 61 percent.
Mall revenues during this period, however, grew 8 percent to PHP41.8 billion, citing the combined effect of higher occupancy, stronger tenant sales and improved operational efficiency.
