A groundbreaking Sunday night combo.
On Tuesday, September 1, a new teaser of the comebacking comedy talk show Gandang Gabi Vice officially began airing across different platforms.
Its main host, the Unkabogable Superstar, Vice Ganda, is back on her familiar spot as she once again sat on the iconic crescent insignia of the long-running show.
This time around, in the teaser, she was “sat” atop the GMA Network Center as she formally announced that the new season will see the show, which premiered in 2011 and ran until 2020, air for the first time ever on GMA.
As previously confirmed, it will begin airing on Sunday, September 13. The same plug also confirmed that it will air every week at 10:00 pm on the Sunday Grandé block.
This effectively places the all-new GGV back-to-back with the top-rating Sunday newsmagazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, which is presented by veteran broadcast journalist Jessica Soho.
Well-documented personal matters between the two Philippine TV stalwarts aside, this will mark the first time that their shows will air on the same block on the same night.
For years, the two shows went neck-to-neck in the ratings game, especially at the height of the so-called network wars in the mid- to late-2010s. For a time, they also competed as the top-trending program on social media on Sunday nights.
Up to this day, Vice and Jessica are also de-facto rivals, with KMJS airing opposite the community singing game show Everybody, Sing—which is broadcast over TV5, A2Z, and ABS-CBN platforms—every Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, there is still little information publicly available about the fate of The Boobay and Tekla Show, under its current iteration as TBATS On The Go, which airs on the slot that Gandang Gabi Vice will soon occupy.
However, prior reports point to TBATS moving to Saturday nights to accommodate the shift, but GMA Network has yet to release any teaser or promotional material to confirm the reported new slot.
Gandang Gabi Vice will air every Sunday night at 10:00 pm on GMA. Uncut version of episodes will stream on iWant.
