The list also includes international-branded hotels that will be set up branches as part of the acceleration of the company’s expansion plans.
In a disclosure, property giant Megaworld announced its plans to accelerate the expansion of its hospitality portfolio to more areas as it prepares to launch new hotels in several areas in the country.
The company is set to launch new developments in key tourism areas such as Palawan, Ilocos Norte, and beyond.
They also noted their intention to have 12,000 rooms across its portfoilio by the year 2032, accounting both homegrown and international brands.
To supercharge this next phase of growth, the company has set up its business to have two focused groups catering to both lines.
Under the Megaworld Global Hotels and Resorts (MGHR) are Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) and Megaworld Global Hospitality (MGH).
The former will manage the company’s hotel developments in Metro Manila, Boracay, Batangas, and Cebu.
Meanwhile, the latter group will handle Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, which is set to be come Megaworld’s biggest hotel property, as well as the company’s new hotel properties in Palawan and the three hotels in Iloilo: Courtyard by Marriot, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, and Belmont Hotel Iloilo.
Megaworld President and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso noted that the company is pursuing this bold move to expand their hospitality organization.

To support this goal of helping boost our country’s tourism, we are making this bold move of expanding our host pitality organization with established veterans and innovators in the global hotels and leisure industry,” she told.
The company has also named two industry veterans to lead the groups. Socrates Alvaro is the Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, while Anna Vergara takes on the role of Managing Director of Megaworld Global Hospitality.
Alvaro’s career spans nearly two decades across some of the world’s most dynamic and prestigious hospitality markets such as the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, the Maldives, Thailand, as well as a track record built through various senior leadership roles within Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.
Meanwhile, Vergara, has more than 32 years of distinguished experience with Marriott International.
Together, they bring complementary strengths to the new organization—one anchored on Megaworld’s homegrown hospitality expertise and the other on global hotel standards and international brand management.
Meanwhile, in the first half of 2026, Megaworld’s hospitality business emerged as the company’s fastest-growing recurring income segment.
It delivered an 11% increase in revenues to PHP3.1 billion, which was bolstered by the strong performance brought by the opening of the 405-room Belmont Hotel Iloilo within the Iloilo Business Park.
