His family has since appealed for any information about him.
In a post on Facebook, the family of one Filipino doctor, identified as Dr. Juan Carlos Manalo, asked for help in finding him.
According to the information disclosed by his sister Chiara Manalo, the physician is part of the Isha Sadghuru group on their Kailashyatra tour.
She noted that her sibling became missing and out of contact since the major flash flood that occurred on the border of Nepal and Tibet in China on Wednesday morning, August 26—with the group’s last known whereabout being at the Immigration Office at Gyirong.
Prior to that, he was able to contact his family on Tuesday, August 25 at 1:21 pm (Manila time) or 11:06 am (Nepal time).
For those with any information about their current whereabouts, the family has listed their contact information in the said post, where they expressed appreciation for any information or news about him or his group.
“Receiving and seeing the news about the catastrophe has been very difficult for us. We humbly ask to include him in your prayers, that he may return to us safely soon,” Chiara also said in her post.
Prior to this social media post, the Nepal Tourism Board listed one Filipino among the missing individuals following the flash flood that affected towns in both Nepal and China.
Based on records from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the DFA, 18 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are currently in Nepal, but the government records also indicated that 128 Filipinos are in Nepal— most of whom are women married to Nepalese nationals.
The Philippine government also told that it will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with Nepalese authorities and the Filipino community for any developments involving Filipinos in the affected areas.
