A new team from one of K-pop’s major companies.
On Monday, August 24, TUIDE, the new K-pop septet comprising members Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Seah, and Yihani, officially debuted with the release of their first-ever mini-album.
Entitled Tune & Play, this mini-album will consist of five tracks and according to ABD, embodies the group’s vision of bringing diverse musical languages into one cohesive rhythm.
“Offering a first look into the group’s artistic identity and musical direction, the album forges a new intersection where sounds and textures from different generations and cultures come together. By tuning diverse musical languages into a shared rhythm, each track is imbued with the joy of play discovered through that creative harmony,” the company added.
The septet also aims to create a tide of their own, which was driven by the members’ effortless confidence and flexible approach to creativity, the label furthered.
Leading the said record is the title track SUN KISS, which delivers a “sun-kissed sonic experience that gently envelops the ears and inspires listeners to join the tide.”
Concurrent with the EP’s release, the music video for the lead aingketwas also released on the same day and has since garnered over 400,000 views as of this writing.
Aside from that, also carried are the tracks ABD, Echo, Flip-Flop Girl, and GRLS.
Meanwhile, the company also noted in the past that the group name draws inspiration from the phrase “Tune the Tide,” which is reflective of the “group’s ambition to experience the various tides of the world and tune them into new forms of joy through music.“
The team is also the first to debut under the newly-established label ABD, which is said to be specializing in girl group production.
The said company, according to HYBE, is “driven by its creative philosophy of imagining ‘D’ instead of the expected ‘C’ after ‘A’ and ‘B’,” which reflects the label’s flexible and playful approach to pursuing the intrinsic joy of music.
Meanwhile, other groups managed by different labels under the HYBE umbrella include BTS, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, ILLIT, CORTIS, and many more.
