The Filipina tennis star continues her climb in the index.

Following her strong performances in the past three tournaments where she participated, Alex Eala continues her steady climb in the global singles index of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).

The 21-year-old has reached a new career-best placement by being the new world no. 18 in the chart released on Monday, August 24 (Manila time). It is two places higher than her previous best ranking at no. 20.

This news comes after she clinched her first WTA Tour trophy at the Mubadala DC Open, which was followed by her stints in the Canadian/National Bank Open and the Cincinnati Open.

Eala will be competing first in the mixed doubles event, where she is set to partner with Canadian player Félix Auger-Aliassime.

There, the Filipina tennis star’s paths will once again cross with Elina Svitolina, who will then play alongside her husband Gaël Monfils.

Moreover, she will also participate at the Stars of the Open special charity event on August 27 (local time), where she will play against her close friend, Iva Jonvic, in the said match that will only have a special single-set format.
