Lea Salonga, the one-and-only Filipina Broadway Diva, is set to add another feather to her cap as she becomes an honoree of the covered star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Los Angeles, California, USA.
She will be the 2,855th person to be inducted into the Live Performance category. She will formally receive the honor during an event scheduled on September 4 (local time), with Sibley Scoles as emcee.
Also going to be present at the special event will be Ming-Na Wen, who also voiced Mulan in the namesake animated movie, alongside Salonga.
The popular landmark was established in 1960 and is now one of the biggest tourist attractions in the area.
Meanwhile, arter her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, as previously announced, Lea will also be honored with the Icon Award at the third annual Manila International Film Festival’s (MIFF) Closing Night Awards Gala on Sunday, September 6th at The Beverly Hilton.
During the said evening, there will be sprcial screenings of Lea’s projects such as Forgotten Island, Sana Maulit Muli, and The Vale – Origins at the 3rd Annual Manila International Film Festival at TCL Chinese Theatre.
The MIFF, being a member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, was the one who nominated Lea to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee for consideration.
Among Lea Salonga’s long list of achievements and accolades is her acclaimed performance originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon, which earned her Tony, Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards for Best Actress.
She also starred in various films that also include Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal, Pik Pak Boom, Yellow Rose and and as the timeless singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan and Mulan II.
Recently, she also joined other Disney princesses for a grand production number and sang the official theme songs from Aladdin and Mulan.
Lea also voiced Celine in KPop Demon Hunters as the singing voice of Celine and is part of the upcoming DreamWorks movie Forgotten Island, which is based on Filipino folklore.
