SEVENTEEN’s Vernon drops special single ‘I’ll Be Back’ as military service begins

On Thursday, August 20, Korean pop star Vernon of the popular boy band SEVENTEEN formally began his mandatory military service.

The band member is expected to undergo the required five-week-long basic military training and will fulfill his role as a public service worker for the remainder of his duty.

While there were no events held at the site of his enlistment, fans were treated by him to a sentimental track entitled I’ll Be Back, which he personally wrote and composed.

Vernon is the latest member of SEVENTEEN to fulfill his military obligation to his motherland, with Jeonghan having already returned to the limelight after completing his earlier this year, while Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi are currently in service.

Meanwhile, expected to follow suit in the coming months are Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan and Dino, who will respectively enlist on September 10, September 20, and for the latter two, they will simultaneously enter on October 26.

SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015 and went on to release multiple hit tracks like Pretty UAju NiceDon’t Wanna CryClapOh MyHomeHitFearLeft and RightHome; RunReady To LoveHot, and Super, among others.

Recently, they announced a three-year-long hiatus from group activities in light of the said military service enlistment of members. In addition, all 13 members have also renewed their individual contracts with Pledis.

Vernon also launched the sub-unit called V8 together with fellow member The8 last June.
