This, as he made his shocking exit from the band last week.
Through a statement issued on social media by his legal counsel, former Xdinary Heroes member Gunil responded to the circulating stories about him, specifically remarks that he supposedly made.
Represented by Atty. Sung Jae-hwan of Joowon Law Firm, the former band drummer extended his sincere apologies to his fans and to his former co-members in Xdinary Heroes for the “concern this matter has caused.”
“He (Gunil) is deeply sorry to his fans, who have supported him with unwavering dedication, for the disappointment they have felt,” the letter further read.
According to the legal counsel, the 28-year-old musician is also “profoundly sorry for the position in which the members have been placed, having been affected through no fault of their own.”
“It troubles him above all that difficulty has come upon the whole team through his own negligence. He has offered his apologies to them directly,” his camp added.
The artist’s camp then directly admitted that he did use “inappropriate expressions during a private conversation” and takes full responsibility without excuse.
However, the letter noted that Gunil was “under considerable strain at the time from malicious online postings concerning him and from undue intrusions into his private life, and that the remarks arose while he was confiding those feelings to another person.”
Although, he accepts that these words, which I were spoken in private, carry no less weight for having been spoken in private.
He also said to have “always held his fans in the deepest regard,” citing how he read every letter he received. Gunil even went as far as recording each of the names of the people who wrote to him and what they had shared with him of their own lives.
“The stage was the ambition of his life, and it was his fans who sustained him through the years he was able to stand upon it,” the legal counsel furthered.
Meanwhile, they also shared that Gunil prepared over a long period for the band’s supposed appearance at Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan, which was stage he promised to his fans.
“He sought to appear until the very last, but was unable to do so, and he is deeply sorry that he could not meet his fans there. That he has caused his fans distress is what weighs upon him most heavily,” the musician’s camp added.
It is in this regard that they also denied that he “habitually insulted fans” and that the allegations of him speaking ill of his fellow members, as well as cheating were all “entirely false,” they told.
Meanwhile, his camp also clarified that he did not depart JYP Entertainment of his own volition, nor did he agree to terminate his exclusive contract. “We do not believe that valid grounds for termination exist in this case,” they stressed.
Although, to “spare his fans any further distress,” Gunil intends to continue discussions with the agency in good faith.
The legal counsel also addressed the posts that caused the matter and categorically stated that “much of its content is untrue” and that the damage inflicted on Gunil has been “severe” and had left him “emotionally exhausted.”
Despite being told about civil and criminal cases he could file, the Korean star was said to have “chosen to forgive the person who wrote it.”
“The artist once again offers his sincere apologies to his fans and to the members for the concern and the weariness this matter has caused. He hopes that all remaining matters will be resolved smoothly and swiftly, and he remains fully committed to giving his utmost alongside his fans,” Gunil’s legal team said, before asking for fans’ continued interest, support, and warm encouragement.
The band debuted in 2021 is known for songs like Happy Death Day, Test Me, Freakin’ Bad, Break the Brake, Little Things, Save Me, Night Before The End, and Beautiful Life.
