He also said that the public should carefully read the statement of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to understand what is happening.
In a statement on Saturday, August 15, actor Derek Ramsay responded to the recent apprehension of a Porsche 918 Spyder that was later confirmed to be his by LTO Chief and Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao.
In an Instagram story, he said, “I’ve seen the issue regarding the 918 spyder on social media.“
The showbiz personality also insisted that his cars do not have fake plates. “I do not drive any cars with fake plates. All my vehicles have proper plates,” and asked to carefully read the statement issued by LTO to properly understand what is happening.
Furthermore, he noted that he has yet to receive a show-cause order from the agency, but assured his cooperation and appearance once he receives one.
“To the LTO, I apologize for what is going on. Driving with fake plates is wrong and should not be tolerated,” he concluded his statement.
Last August 14, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that it is issuing an SCO to the registered owner and driver of the said supercar over the alleged use of fake plate number.
The agency, in its public statement, said that following a verification, they identified that the plate number of the said vehicle had a different alphanumeric combination compared to the original motor vehicle license plate number it was assigned.
They have summoned the owner and driver to appear before Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) and submit a verified or sworn explanation over possible violation on the Use of Number Plates, and explain why they should not have their driver’s licenses suspended or revoked.
Although, a 90-day preventive suspension of the driver’s license of the driver was already issued, and was directed it to be surrendered to the IID, on top of having the said supercar under “alarm status,” with the Law Enforcement Service (LES) directed to impound the vehicle.
“Walang VIP sa pagpapatupad ng batas. Kahit sino pa ang sangkot, kapag napatunayang lumabag, haharap sa kaukulang pananagutan,” said Lacanilao.
“Hindi magdadalawang-isip ang LTO na kumilos laban sa sinumang lalabag sa ating mga patakaran. Walang palakasan, walang palusot, at walang exemption. Ang paggamit ng pekeng plaka at pag-iwas sa mga obligasyong dapat tuparin ay hindi pinapalampas ng LTO.”
