Compose Coffee opens first store in Manila

The Korean coffee chain has officially landed in the country.

The Korean coffee chain has officially landed in the country.

Last August 8, the Jollibee Group officially opened the first Philippine store of Compose Coffee at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The said brand, which originates from South Korea is part of the Filipino restaurant group’a growing coffee and tea portfolio, with the BGC  launch being the start of a “five-year nationwide growth plan” of Compose Coffee.

Joseph Tanbuntiong, Chief Executive Officer of Jollibee Group Philippines and Head of Jollibee Brand Global shared, “Our confidence in Compose Coffee’s future in the Philippines is not based on projection alone. It is grounded in experience.

Compose Coffee has a strong presence in South Korea, where it has grown to over 3,000 stores, including 1,000 that were added in just under 18 months after Jollibee’s acquisition of a majority stake. It also made its entry into Taiwan recently.

We have seen the brand scale successfully in South Korea, stay closely attuned to what customers value, and build a resilient business that can deliver sustainable long-term growth,” Tanbuntiong added.

By combining that experience with the Jollibee Group’s deep understanding of the Philippine market and proven operating capabilities, our goal is to build an enduring brand by earning the trust of Filipino consumers as we expand Compose Coffee across the Philippines with discipline and purpose.”

Meanwhile, Gordon Cho Chief Executive Officer of Compose Coffee Korea, shared: “South Korea is one of the world’s highest coffee-consuming countries per capita and one of the most competitive coffee markets globally. Compose Coffee’s growth in this environment shows the strength of a brand built on quality, value, consistency, and disciplined execution.”

He added, “Together with the Jollibee Group, we are bringing that same discipline to the Philippines — the discipline that helped Compose Coffee become one of Korea’s leading coffee chains — while staying close to Filipino consumers and what they value in their everyday coffee experience.”

The first Philippine store marks the start of Compose Coffee’s nationwide growth, which will be driven by franchising—a capital-light model that enables faster expansion while opening the door to entrepreneurs looking to be part of the brand’s journey.

Over the next five years, the Jollibee Group aims to build the biggest Compose Coffee network outside South Korea in the Philippines, reflecting its strategy of scaling high-potential international brands in markets where it has strong operating capabilities.

Compose Coffee offers a broad menu built around great taste and everyday accessibility  ranging from familiar coffeehouse favorites such as Americanos and flavored lattes to distinctive Korean-inspired creations.

The lineup also extends beyond coffee to non-coffee lattes, frappes and smoothies, ades and juices, desserts, and seasonal offerings, giving customers more choices across tastes, moods, and occasions.
