It will be a friendly match between the two of them.

Ahead of her comeback to the US Open this year, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is going on a special competition for a cause with her close friend, American netter Iva Jovic.

The two players — who previously faced each other at the HSBC Queen’s Championship in the United Kingdom last June, which resulted to Eala’s exit from the said contest — will participate in the Stars of the Open exhibition event.

The said match is scheduled to on August 27 (local time) at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, New York.

In contrast to the usual format, the match will only have a single set, with the first to score six points declared winner.

Meanwhile, before this, Alex will first take the court in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the world no. 20 having earned a first round bye and will compete against Magda Linette or Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the Round of 64.

Eala is set to have her first game in the WTA 1000 tournament on Saturday, August 15 (Manila time). The 21-year-old is seeded no. 17 in the said tourney.

Recently, Alex made history after becoming the first-ever Filipina to win in the WTA Tour at the recent Mubadala DC Open in Washington, D.C. and extended her strong performance to the National Bank Open in Toronto, Ontario, where she was able to make it through Round of 16.
