Eligible items for trade-in include Decathlon-branded bicycles, tents, fitness equipment, scooters, and other major sporting gear in fully functional condition.
From last Sunday, August 9 until Saturday, August 15, the sports gear retailer Decathlon is holding its Buyback Week at participating stores nationwide.
Through this program, customers can bring their pre-loved equipment directly to branches and exchange them instantly for Decathlon vouchers.
Participating stores include flagship like Decathlon Pasig (Tiendesitas), Decathlon Alabang, and Decathlon North EDSA, which have dedicated Circular Economy teams ready to evaluate the items.
But, even before proceeding to stores, customers may use the online assessment tool available at the Decathlon website and get an initial estimate of the item’s value.
Afterwards, they may head to any participating Decathlon branch during Buyback Week and once the physical inspection is validated by an expert teammate, customers may walk away with their Decathlon gift card, which has been loaded with the agreed-upon value of their gear, instantly.
This will allow customers to either upgrade their gear to another equipment, transition to other activities, or replenish their collection.
Moreover, Decathlon said the Buyback is anchored heavily on an environmental mission of preserving the “playground we play in,” with each piece of equipment entering the “Second Life”.
The brand’s dedicated Circular Economy team will refurbish the gear to ensure it meets safety and quality standards and will is then be placed back at a reduced price for other customers.
Thus, this extends the lifecycle of high-quality products, drastically reduces landfill waste, and minimizes the carbon emissions associated with manufacturing brand-new equipment from scratch.
