With several areas in the country bracing for the impact of Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
Due to inclement weather brought by the abovementioned weather systems, the Malacañan Palace, through Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, announced the suspension of classes at all levels and work in government offices in the following provinces and regions on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
In accordance to Memorandum Circulation No. 122 and based upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the suspension is effective in the following areas.
- National Capital Region (NCR)
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Benguet
- Pangasinan
- Abra
- Zambales
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Ilocos Norte
- Apayao
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Tarlac
- Nueva Ecija
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Rizal
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Laguna
- Occidental Mindoro
Meanwhile, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services were directed to “continue their operations and render the necessary services” in spite of the suspension.
Moreover, localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other areas may also be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives, MC No. 122 added.
Lastly, it also clarified: “The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.“
Meanwhile, here are the other towns and cities that cancelled classes or directed the shift to alternative learning modalities due to the weather condition.
