The said evening will see the country choose its representative to the inaugural edition of the pan-regional music competition.
On Tuesday, August 4, ABS-CBN, the Philippine broadcast partner of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest Asia, announced the date for the Selection Night of the song and interpreter that will represent the country in the first-ever edition set to happen later in the year.
According to the network, the Philippine Selection Night will happen on August 30, 2026 (Sunday), with further details obtained by Trendrod noting that it will be aired on Kapamilya platforms starting at 9:45 pm on the said evening.
Although, at present, participants to the said national competition remain under wraps.
The Philippine Selection Night is the precursor to the Eurovision Song Contest Asia grand finals, which will be hosted by Bangkok, Thailand on November 14, 2026 (Saturday).
Co-produced with Voxovation together with S2O Productions and Thailand’s Channel 3, it will be aired in different countries in the region, with the aim of reaching more than 600 million people.
Other confirmed participating broadcasters are PK, Inc. (South Korea), Media Prima’s TV3 (Malaysia), VTV3 (Vietnam), VTE9 (Laos), NTV (Bangladesh), BBS (Bhutan), and Himalaya TV (Nepal), with each country also holding their own national finals in the coming weeks.
Malaysia, however, will instead announce their chosen participant during an annual music festival in mid-August.
The expansion coincides with the 70th anniversary of the world’s largest live music event.
“For seven decades, the Eurovision Song Contest has brought countries together through music, storytelling and live television, reaching audiences of hundreds of millions every year,” the organization’s press statement back in March read.
