The agency has issued a statement in order to prevent it from being misinterpreted by the public.
On Thursday, July 30, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm Star Magic issued a statement to clarify a statement made by actress Kim Chiu in the reality series Come Dine With Me: Celebrity Philippines, a production of ABS-CBN Studios for HBO Max.
The said statement was recorded a few years back, specifically in 2023, and is currently being viewed by the public.
“While the statements made by Kim at the time were true and reflected the circumstances then, they no longer represent the present situation,” explained the company.
It further noted that since it was recorded, the Kapamilya actress-host has “discovered material information that came to light in 2025, which prompted her to take legal action.”
“As a result, a criminal complaint filed by Kim against Ms. Lakambini Chiu is currently pending before the proper authorities,” Star Magic added.
It was back in December when Kim filed a qualified theft complaint against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, which the TV and film personality’s counsel disclosed to have been her final resort after trying to resolve the matter internally.
The group also emphasized that Kim remains “firm” in her decision to pursue the case through proper legal process “in order to establish the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and seek justice.”
The talent management group also said that the statement was issued solely to clarify the timeline of events and avoid any misunderstanding arising from previously recorded statements.
“As the matter is now the subject of ongoing legal proceedings, we respectfully ask for the public’s understanding and for Kim’s privacy to be respected while the case takes its proper course,” the company said before concluding its statement by thanking fans for their continued love and support for Kim.
Kim is one of the 20 artists participating in the inaugural season of Come Dine With Me: Celebrity Philippines, which is the local adaptation of the British format.
Other artists that are part of the show include the likes of her fellow It’s Showtime hosts Ogie Alcasid and Darren Espanto, as well as Ruffa Gutierrez, Marina Summers, Maymay Entrata, Empoy Marquez, Tony Labrusca, Jervi Wrightson (KaladKaren), and Joel Cruz.
