She shared that it was a mix of reasons that span her professional and personal sides.
On Wednesday, July 29, actress-filmmaker Bela Padilla shared a reflection post on her Instagram account, where she opened up about some matters that are currently happening in her life.
In the said clip, the 35-year-old is seen doing pottery as the song Someday I’ll Get It by Alek Olsen plays in the background.
She noted, “I use this song for work, when I need to release big emotions at the end of the day. When I’m not working, I avoid it at all costs. But today…I let myself be upset.“
Bela, who most recently portrayed the character of Lara in the ABS-CBN series Blood Vs. Duty, said that since the year began, she has received “so many blessings,” which include new projects that were offered and completed, as well as movies “doing well in theaters and streaming,” shoots, covers, personal projects, travels, nominations and recognitions.
With those, the artist shared that when “sad things” happened for her, coupled with the of what has been going on in the Philippines, she felt that she had “no right to complain.”
“I stayed quiet – probably shocking to some, since I usually speak up for what I believe is right and lend my voice to the silent,” she added.
Bela then opened up that in her personal life, there were “a lot” of things that happened.
“While I filled my few free days with happy moments, I was learning the hard way who I could actually trust,” she said. “People I’ve uplifted over the years turned a blind eye when they could have easily spoken up and helped carry my burden, for once. That wasn’t an easy pill to swallow. And things that hurt me as a child started showing up dressed as care and love.“
Thus, the actress-filmmaker said that those circumstances may help give her followers and the rest of the public have a clearer picture of why she has been quiet.
Although, she shared that she recently started finding her voice.
“I’ve started pushing back. The problem with being compliant your whole life, is that people get startled when you finally say ‘enough.’ Just the sound of your voice can offend the people who hurt you, once you start naming what they did. That’s okay – don’t be scared,” Bela shared.
For those experiencing the same thing as she did, she gave a piece of advice: “I haven’t figured it all out either. But I figured out today.“
“My advice, if you need to get through today: listen to ‘Someday I’ll Get It,’ on loop and have yourself a good cry. You’ll feel better. Tomorrow, we’ll figure out the next steps again. And someday, we will actually get it,” she added.
