It is back to deliver important lessons to people anew.
On Tuesday, July 28, GMA Network officially announced the replacement for the GMA Public Affairs series You’re My Favorite Song, which will air its finale episode on Friday, July 31.
Due to unexplained reasons, the network has decided to dig into its archive and pull the series Maria Clara at Ibarra from its shelves and air it on free-to-air television anew.
The said series starred Dennis Trillo, Julie Anne San Jose, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco.
The story itself begins with the Gen Z character of Klay (Barbie Forteza) entering the fictional world of Jose Rizal’s novels Noli Me Tangere and later on, El Filibusterismo, all courtesy of her Rizal Studies teacher Professor Torres (Lou Veloso).
There, she interacted with the characters like Crisostomo Ibarra (Dennis Trillo), Maria Clara (Julie Anne San Jose), and Fidel (David Licauco).
Through literally living in the book, Klay was able to understand the struggles of the past, with many of them continuing as societal issues of the day.
According to GMA Network, the show will air from Monday to Friday at 4:30 pm, right after Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.
MCAI is the second classic Kapuso series that the network has decided to air on the flagship channel.
At present, the 2021 hit romantic-comedy series First Yaya starring Sanya Lopez and Gabby Concepcion is also airing on the GMA Prime block every weeknight at 9:35 pm.
