They will be the first low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia to offer the said service.

In a press statement on Tuesday, July 14, budget carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) announced that it will begin offering an in-flight Wi-Fi service for passengers that will be powered by Starlink in 2027.

The said move, it noted, will bring “the world’s most advanced satellite constellation engineered by SpaceX” to its flights.

Starlink, the airline continued, has a  high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi capable of HD streaming, online gaming, productivity and more.

Beyond enhancing the passenger experience, Starlink will also support improved operational connectivity for Cebu Pacific’s flight crews and operational teams, enabling greater operational efficiency,” it added.

The collaboration is also heralded as a “significant milestone for Philippine aviation,” as Cebu Pacific is set to become the first low-cost airline in Southeast Asia to bring Starlink onboard.

Cebu Pacific is joining its fellow Indigo Partners portfolio airlines—Frontier (United States), Wizz Air (Europe), Volaris (Mexico), and JetSMART (South America)—in rolling out Starlink, which is expected to be carried in over 1,000 aircraft worldwide.

The deployment represents one of the largest global commitments to next-generation inflight connectivity, with airlines bringing low fares and access to reliable Wi-Fi provided through a new system managed directly by Starlink,” Cebu Pacific continued.

Xander Lao, President and Chief Commercial Officer of Cebu Pacific, noted in his statement, “Introducing Starlink marks another important step in delivering a better travel experience for every Juan.”

For him, reliable, high-speed connectivity has become an “expectation” of travelers and through Starlink, he said, they will be able to remain “connected throughout their journey.”

As for Bill Franke, Managing Partner of Indigo Partners, “Starlink will provide our portfolio airlines with reliable, high-speed connectivity, further enhancing the customer experience of flying on Wizz, Frontier, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu Pacific.”
