Making their return in time for their 12th anniversary.
In the poster released by Korean music label SM Entertainment on Monday, July 6, it announced that the Korean pop girl group Red Velvet is making its much-anticipated comeback next month.
The quintet, composed of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri, will be returning for their new summer mini-album entitled Velvet Summer om August 3, 2026 at 6:00 pm (Korea time).
In the moving poster, the company introduced a surfing boy who appears to have caught the attention of a mermaid.
This will be the first music release of the group as a complete line-up since their 10th anniversary extended play Cosmic in 2024.
Since then, there have been a lot of changes and developments, with the biggest being the departure of Wendy and Yeri from SM Entertainment.
Since then, there have been the comeback of Irene and Seulgi’s sub-unit with the EP Tilt in May 2025, which was preceded by Seulgi’s solo comeback with Accidentally On Purpose of March that same year.
Both projects were followed by Joy’s own solo mini-albim Splash in August 2025, and Wendy’s Cerulean Verge in September 2025—which was her first solo music release under a different label.
Most recently, Irene released her debut solo album Biggest Fan last March, which carries the namesake lead single.
Wendy, along with Irene, Seulgi, and Joy, made their debut in 2014 with the song Happiness, which was later followed by their rendition of the song Be Natural of their senior group S.E.S.
In 2015, in time for the release of Ice Cream Cake, Yeri was formally introduced as the group’s fifth member.
They went on to drop more hit singles in the following years, such as Dumb Dumb, Red Flavor, Bad Boy, Zimzalabim, Psycho, Queendom, Feel My Rhythm, and Chill Kill, among many others.
In 2024, in celebration of their 10th anniversary, Red Velvet also staged a special concert tour entitled Happiness: My Dear Reve1uv, which included a stop in Manila.
