Recently, budget carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) received a brand new Airbus A320neo airctaft, which landed in Manila last May 22 from the plane manufacturer’s facility in China.

The said aircraft is the second plane of the type that the airline is set to receive this year, with another two on the way. Overall, the company expects a total of 7 neo (New Engine Option) planes set to join the fleet for 2026 as part of its fleet modernization program.

Xander Lao, CEB President and Chief Commercial Officer, noted: “The arrival of another Airbus A320neo reinforces our commitment to sustainability while keeping air travel accessible.”

In today’s operating environment, NEO aircraft also play an important role in helping us manage costs, improve operational efficiency, and reduce our carbon footprint,” he furthered.

Before this, it was back in March when Cebu Pacific received its first A320neo in 2026, which was also the first addition to its fleet for this year.

With this development, the Airbus NEO aircraft now comprise 74% of CEB’s jet fleet.

These planes, when compaded to previous-generation aircraft, burn 15 to 20% less fuel per flight and produce significantly less noise, which help lower carbon emissions and create a sustainable operation.

It was back in 2024 when the company purchased a total of 152 planes from Airbus, with 102 A321neo aircraft and 50 A320neo aircraft, amounting to about PHP 1.4 trillion — the largest order of any Philippine-based carrier in history.

It also holds the distinction of being the first Filipino carrier to have 100 planes on its fleet, which is also one of the youngest fleets in the world, with 14 Airbus A330s, 27 Airbus A321s, 40 Airbus A320s, and 20 ATR turboprop.
