Getting help from another queen as she prepares for the international pageant.
In a post on her Instagram account, reigning Miss World Philippines Asia Rose Simpson shared her moment with Miss World 2013 Megan Young.
She first quoted John Crosby, who once said: “Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.”
The young beauty queen then said that it was “absolutely incredible” to meet Megan in person.
“She truly CARES and she absolutely proved that fact, by not only by meeting with my family and I, but by the way she broke down details of my strengths and weaknesses,” Asia noted what she got from her mentorship.
“From my social media, make up, work out, skin care, wardrobe, and everything else in between – she was intentional about showing and guiding me in each step.“
She also said she was most impacted by Megan’s “willingness to listen” to her concerns and help her maneuver the unknown.
“But beyond listening, what gripped my heart was that she met with me,” Simpson told. “She is a wife, a mother, a business woman, and yet she took time (though she did not have to) to help me. I know how busy her life is, but because she truly cares she gave of herself freely.”
The 17-year-old also said she, along with her entire family, were inspired by Megan even before they met her person. “[B]ut even more so now that we got to see her face to face, to hear and learn from her wisdom,” continued the national titleholder.
“Thank you Ms. Megan for sowing valuable seeds in my life. I will ponder and use the wisdom and guidance you worked so hard to share with me. I am forever grateful! God bless you and your family!” Asia Rose concluded her post.
Asia Rose is set to represent the Philippines in the upcoming Miss World 2026 pageant later in the year and will aim for the country’s elusive second crown 13 years after Megan was hailed as the first (and only, to date) winner from the Philippines.
