Adding more thrill to that is the fact that I did it during the onset of the warm and dry season.
Last March 31, just as the month came to a close, I both decided to go out to do some business and stroll around casually.
During that day, let’s just say that the weather was far from being pleasant in terms of heat, as the daytime heat index was estimated to be in the mid-thirty degrees celsius. Which, if you are in a concrete jungle that is Metro Manila, makes you feel heaty even without doing anything.
Since I had to do other activities that day (work-related, of course), I only had the time to leave home around noontime. Let’s talk about extremes there.
While I wasn’t supposed to do it that day yet, as I intended it to do it the following day, I decided to push through with the idea of putting some pieces that I have gotten from Penshoppe the week prior to the test.
So after a quick shower to quickly freshen up, I wore some pieces from their new Penshoppe Play collection. And the moment I stepped out the door, it was ridiculously hot, to say the least.
But truth be told, I did not sweat that easily. Which is weird, considering how I would usually perspire quite easily given the how hot was it outdoors that time.
At that point, I was starting to get convinced that it could be the shirt that I was wearing that made me feel a little more comfortable than I would otherwise be.
Arriving at the mall after a quick cab ride, even before entering the door, I checked my shirt for any sweat or anything. I felt relieved as soon as I saw not even one, despite the harsh sun was making itself felt inside the vehicle along the way.
Finally, as I went inside, it I felt the gentle, cold breeze of the air conditioning unit. Thank goodness, since I did not sweat, I felt secure that I would not get colds for the quick change in the temperature.
I went around and round and round as I also had to find the establishments where I had to go. But do also note that I was not only inside the mall, but also had to go to their al fresco areas and some parts where the AC system was not cranked up.
Even then, I was still comfortable with what I was wearing overall.
Hence, I could confidently say that Penshoppe’s new apparel line does live up to the expectation that I had set for it, as it proved to be comfortable while doing errands and day-to-day routines—activities that we might overlook how we look like for the sake of just being able to complete those tasks.
Good thing, these versatile pieces also look good, as their printed, breathable tops do not look overwhelming when paired with their minimalist and equally flexible shorts.
I also liked how the cap, which is also part of the collection, has mesh part that also easily makes it better than the ones that I already own during this season.
Furthermore, for someone who is at most getting around to do errands outdoors at this time, their philosophy truly does reflect in the way these fabrics were designed, which is: “Staying active doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Sometimes, it’s as simple as showing up and moving in your own way.”
So, if your lifestyle on a daily basis is similar to what I did that day and even if you are not (yet) into active living, don’t let the name of the line mean something else for you. Because at its core, I can say that it is one that has pieces not only comfortable and stylish, but also pretty much aligned with the weather here in the country.
Penshoppe Play is available in Penshoppe’s brick-and-mortar and online stores.
