Last March 25, the fitness tracking and social networking app Strava announced the support for more languages on its application.

The list of additional supported languages is led by Tagalog, which is then joined by Czech, Danish, Malay, Norwegian Bokmal, Polish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

The announcement, as per the company, underscores its commitment to providing a localized platform experience in additional regions.

It said that this move “enables users to make new connections with local communities, find motivation and achieve their goals.”

Free users, it added, will be able to enjoy localized features including the ability to track over 50 types of activities and connect with friends.

Meanwhile, subscribers can unlock personalized workout recommendations, tools to discover and plan new Routes, motivating Challenges and competition, and deeper training insights to help reach their fitness goals.

Louisa Wee, Chief Marketing Officer at Strava, said, “With the addition of these new languages, Strava is more international than ever before, enabling users to unlock the full Strava experience in their native language.”

The expansion is a key part of our broader global growth strategy, which includes regional partnerships, localized content libraries, and market-specific challenges and programs launching later this year,” she added.

Strava positions itself as the app for “active people,” with over 195 million athletes in more than 185 countries.

It is most popularly used to track the number of steps and routes of runners, with some even using it to spell out letters and names, which they also share on social media.
