They did not specify the person and what was the cause of their decision.
In a statement on Saturday, March 28, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPH) issued a statement on their social media pages regarding the status of one of the delegates in the upcoming edition of the pageant.
According to the group, one of the 51 official candidates that was supposed to compete until the coronation night in May will no longer proceed any further.
It explained, “Following concerns that were brought to our attention, the organization undertook a careful and thorough review of the matter.”
The MUPH also said that they gave the delegate both “verbal and written guidance” to help address the situation.
“Despite these efforts, certain behaviors continued in ways that were not aligned with the standards we aim to uphold,” furthered the pageant organization. “As such, it has been decided that the delegate will no longer be allowed to continue in the competition.”
The Miss Universe Philippines also emphasized that while they “value individuality and encourage each delegate to express herself authentically,” at the same time, they also “remain committed to maintaining a positive and respectful environment for all-one that supports fellow delegates, honors our partners, and upholds the integrity of the organization.”
“MUPH believes in fostering an environment that is uplifting, respectful, and empowering to women. We remain dedicated to ensuring that the experience is constructive and meaningful for everyone involved,” it added, before concluding with a message of thanks to the public for their understanding and continued support.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2026 will happen on May 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, with the coronation night set to mark the end of the reign of 2025 national winner Ahtisa Manalo.
The lady from Quezon Province placed third runner-up at the most recent edition of Miss Universe, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand last November, securing the highest placement for the country in five years.
Meanwhile, the grand winner of this year’s national pageant will get to wear the Philippines’ sash at the upcoming 75th edition of Miss Universe, that will be staged in San Juan, Puerto Rico in November 2026.
