The Olympic gold medalist has ticked one off her bucket list.

In a post on her Instagram account, the first-ever Filipina gold medalist at the Olympic Games, Hidilyn Diaz, shared a special moment that she had achieved recently.

The Pinay weightlifting icon was able to finally hike the Mt. Pinatubo in Zambales together with her husband and coach Julius Naranjo.

In the images she shared, the athlete showed snapshots of her while enjoying the scenery in front of her.

Diaz wrote in her caption, “It’s a dream come true to finally be here with Julius. 🌄”

She then recalled her time when she was assigned duties at the Philippine Air Force, specifically in the 710th Special Operations Wing, Hidilyn had already wanted to make a visit to the volcano.

I remember when I was assigned at the 710th SPOW, I would always say, ‘Someday, I’ll visit Mt. Pinatubo, see its beautiful crater, and learn about the 1991 eruption.’

Now it finally happened. ❤️ The ride and hike were fun, and Mt. Pinatubo is truly beautiful,” she continued and expressed her gratitude for being able to do this hike and said, “Grateful for this experience.”

Recently, Hidilyn made headlines as her lifetime free fuel subsidy became a talking point on social media amid the surging prices, which lead to statements by her manager, Noel Ferrer, and the oil company.

She is also currently teaching in the College of Human Kinetics (CHK) of the University of the Philippines – Diliman (UPD) in Quezon City.
