The award-winning movie has entered another week in cinemas.
In a post on his account on X, formerly Twitter, filmmaker Jun Robles Lana thanked the public for the support towards his newest movie project, the period-thriller film Sisa. The said tweet comes as it officially entered its third week in cinemas on Wednesday, March 18.
Lana’s update read, “Imagine that. 3 weeks in, and we’re still here! My heart is full seeing how you’ve embraced Sisa.“
“To everyone who dragged their friends, brought their families, or even went back for a second look: thank you. Your word-of-mouth is the only reason we’re still on the big screen,” he added.
The said movie stars screen veteran and one of Philippine cinema’s most award-winning actresses, Hilda Koronel, in the titular role.
Koronel, who had been based in the United for over a decade, returned to the country to do the film. In recent weeks, she was also highly visible in local shows and digital programs to promote the project.
However, she has since made her return home, with Lana having shared his message for her through a post on Instagram.
Aside from Koronel, also part of the movie are Eugene Domingo, Romnick Sarmenta, Jennica Garcia, Nico Antonio, Tanya Gomez, Angellie Sanoy, Barbara Miguel, Kobie Brown, among others.
At the recent FantaSporto Film Festival in Portugal, the movie was awarded Best Screenplay with Lana previously calling it, through an earlier tweet, an “honor for our team to see this story recognized on an international stage, but the most meaningful part of the journey is bringing this win back home.”
He also wrote back then, “If you love stories that stick with you, please give Sisa a chance. Let’s show the world that our stories have a home in our own theaters. See you at the movies!“
