It brought together some of the biggest and rising Filipino OPM and P-pop acts.
Last February 7 and 8, the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City became the place to be for a lot of local music fans as the inaugural Wonderful Moments Music Festival (WMMF) was held there during that weekend.
The show was an extravaganza of sights and sounds, as well as sensory experiences. Just as the concertgoers entered the venue, they were already greeted with various booths and pop-up shops that offer activities like a free henna tattoo, massage, and merchandise items, on top of the usual food concessionaires.
The official Wonderful Moments Music Festival theme song was also blasted on to speakers, which could have started the LSS (last song syndrome) for many even before the show started.
Inside the VIP pit, where we were able to gain access as part of the media, the vibe immediately changes as the palpable spirit of fun does not only emanate from the fans who have made their way to the venue, but also the performers themselves.
On the first day, some of the acts present were the likes of Earl Agusin, Denise Julia, and Amiel Sol in the afternoon. P-pop group Alamat kicked off the evening slate, and they were followed by Drag Race Philippines season 3 winner Maxie Andreison, Adie, and Sarah Geronimo—who sang her live versions of Tala, Umaaligid, and Sa Iyo, to name a few.
Gloc-9 also went up on the stage with his iconic songs like Bagsakan and Upuan, with Dionela being the last act of the eight-hour marathon show.
Capping that long day was a major fireworks display, which was, spoiler alert, also what the organizers did for the second day.
The following day, PBB Big Winners Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca serenaded the audience, followed by Over October and Arthur Nery.
Just as the moon had risen, the energy of back-to-back bands in Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee brought the house down and, together, their sets lasted for nearly three hours.
Bamboo was also celebrated with his performances of his songs like Noypi, Himala, and more.
Perhaps, the much-anticipated showcase of that night, and arguably the entire weekend, were the double-billing of BINI and Cup Of Joe.
The P-pop girl group sang their hit songs like Pantropiko, Salamin, Salamin and their single Bikini, and interacted with the thousands of Blooms that came to support them.
As for the charttopping OPM band, they bookended the festival with the live performances of hits like Misteryoso and Multo.
Perhaps, an additional treat for many on the second night was the unannounced appearance of Alden Richards, who co-produced this show under Myriad Entertainment with iMe Philippines.
He went up to the technical booth, as well as made his inspection inside the venue the entire day.
Overall, Wonderful Moments Music Festival was no less than a spectacular feat, especially the multi-sensory experience that it delivered over the course of two nights.
It was indeed lived up to its promise of becoming a different music festival, by setting up an intermission “podcast” with the Boys Night Out team, who made the crowd lively while technical preparations in between artists are being done.
As it has been previously reported here on Trendrod earlier in February, WMMF is confirmed to be having another edition, with details and other information yet to be announced by the organizers.
