Late Wednesday night, February 18 (Manila time), Filipina tennis star Alex Eala returned to the hard court at the ongoing Dubai Tennis Championships in the United Arab Emirates.

The 20-year-old battled it out against Romanian player Sorana Cirstea in the Round of 16 match, with the first set being a tense, close fight between the two.

While Cirstea was looking like she had already a lead, Eala was able to snag the win after ending it 7-5.

In the second set, the Pinay tennis sensation, while still facing tough opposition from the Romanian, did not hold back and delivered 6-4 win, cementing her supremacy in the said match.

With this win, the current World No. 47 has booked herself a ticket to a contest with World No. 4, Coco Gauff, of the United States in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament.

The said game will take place on Thursday, February 19 at 11:00 pm (Manila time).
