He is the last member of the band to do so.
Last Monday, February 9, Korean pop idol I.M. of the band MONSTA X was officially conscripted in the mandatory military service program of South Korea.
The 30-year-old is expected to serve as an active duty soldier under the Republic of Korea Army after a basic military training, although no public programs were held at the site.
Despite that, he was still able to receive a public send-off from his bandmates and Monbebes, their official fandom, as he was able to participate in the THE X : NEXUS concert in Seoul.
During which, he even had a head-shaving ceremony on-stage, with no less than his fellow members taking charge.
On his enlistment day, I.M. conveyed through the band’s social media accounts his message to their fans, where he also attached in the same post a snapshot from the private send-off he had with other MONSTA X members.
“(Even) though we greet each other in the cold season, (I) hope your body and heart stay warm.
Let us meet again, stronger than before. I’m on my way, already looking forward to the day we meet again, with smiles!“, he said.
I.M. is part of the six-piece line-up composed of Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney of the group, which was formed through the survival show No Mercy in 2015.
They went on to become known in the K-pop world as “beast idols,” thanks to their strong masculine concepts and imaging.
Some of their most-popular singles are DRAMARAMA, Jealousy, Shoot Out, Alligator, and Find You.
