At the first Next on Netflix event organized by the Philippine arm of the streaming giant on Monday, February 9, the slate of content that will come to the platform was announced.
Among the shows confirmed to be part of the line-up is the upcoming GMA action series The Master Cutter, which stars Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.
Under the direction of Dominic Zapata, the project marks the return of the actor to the teleseryes after the murder-mystery series Royal Blood in 2023.
According to a brief logline shared by the streamer, The Master Cutter is about a former scout ranger who now lives a double life by working as a tailor by day and taking on dangerous bounty hunting jobs on the side.
In the new series, Dantes will be joined by Max Collins, whom he had previously worked with in the movie Firefly, and one of the most in-demand Kapuso talents today, Shuvee Etrata, as well as Jo Berry and child star Sienna Stevens.
Aside from them, an cast comprising of award-winning screen veterans and rising stars will be seen in the GMA Drama production, led by Rio Locsin, Tonton Gutierrez, Joey Marquez, Paolo Contis, Ketchup Eusebio, Polo Ravales, Max Eigenmann, Charlie Fleming, and Prince Carlos.
It was also confirmed that the show will be following the streaming first model, where episodes will drop on Netflix three days ahead of their broadcast on free-to-air television via GMA.
Therefore, The Master Cutter will become the second series to follow such arrangement, which was done with the period-action drama Pulang Araw back in 2024.
The pilot of The Master Cutter is scheduled to be released on April 17.
