She is currently on a sabbatical leave.

In a report by industry insider Medianewser Philippines on Friday, February 6, it revealed that news anchor Gretchen Ho has decided to step away from her work in television.

Associated with her program Morning Matters on One News, it was revealed that she had left the show at the moment to take a sabbatical after deciding to not renew her contract with the Mediaquest group, which also owns TV5 and Cignal TV.

Notably, she is also the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards national winner for Best Factual Presenter for the said program.

In the past week, Gretchen had a “despedida” or send-off party from her co-workers in the past week, with attendees including Cignal’s news chief Jove Francisco, Ed Lingao, Regina Lay, Lourd de Veyra, Shawn Yao, PLDT VP for Communications Roby Alampay, and Frontline Tonight showbiz anchor Jannie Alipo-on.

According to the article, Ho is said to be weighing her options, which include pursuing further studies abroad or doing long-form pieces as part of her Woman In Action project, which was also a travel documentary series that began airing on the same channel back in 2022.

It was in 2021 when the 35-year-old media personality signed with the Kapatid network after her six-year stint with ABS-CBN, its sister news channel ANC, and the ABS-CBN Sports+Action channel.

Prior to her move, she was presenting the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda, which was canceled in July 2020 following the denial of the Kapamilya network’s franchise renewal bid.

Since signing with TV5 and Mediaquest, she had anchored several news programs such as Frontline Pilipinas, Frontline Sa Umaga, The Big Story, and Gud Morning Kapatid.

All the while, Ho also remained a Kapamilya, as she continued to be co-managed by ABS-CBN’s talemt management arm Star Magic with Cornerstone Entertainment.

At present, TV5 and Mediaquest, as well as the anchorwoman herself, have not made any comments to address the matter.
