LRT-2, MRT-3 offer free rides for athletes, officials, and other people involved in Philippine Women’s Open

In their respective announcements on Monday, January 26, the Light Rail Transit Authority and the Metro Rail Transit disclosed that they will jointly offer free rides for those involved in the mounting of the inaugural Philippine Women’s Open in Manila.

For LRT Line 2, this program will be offered to officials, coaches, staff, athletes, and event volunteers from Monday all the way to Saturday, January 31—the last day of the first Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 125 tourney in the country.

To avail, they will just need to present their official accreditation ID to security personnel in the stations.

Meanwhile, MRT Line 3, which says its implementation of the free rides program is in support of the Philippine Tennis Association (PhilTA), the free rides will also be offered to accredited officials and members of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), volunteers, participants. Also included are members of the media and sponsors of the PWO.

As for the procedure, it will also be the same as LRT-2.

Various tennis players from all over the world will compete in the six-day event, including the rising Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala, who is currently ranked 49th in the WTA singles index—her personal best and highest placement to date for any player from the country.
