In a statement issued on Thursday, January 22, Malacañan Palace confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. had a health emergency on Wednesday evening.
According to them, the chief executive experienced “discomfort” and was advised by his physician for him to get a rest and be monitored.
“The President spent the night under medical observation as a precautionary measure after experiencing discomfort. His doctors advised rest and monitoring, and his condition remains stable,” read the statement.
While not originally mentioned, it was also confirmed by the Palace his sighting in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City. However, he has since returned to Malacañang to carry out his duties.
“The President continued to carry out his responsibilities while under medical observation and has returned to Malacañang,” the statement furthered.
According to Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro, the President may have likely experienced fatigue and added that there is no cause for concern and he remains capable of performing his job and will continue with his scheduled activities.
The President was also said to have resumed coordinating with key officials through a series of private meetings and has upcoming public engagements.
“Ang importante rito at dapat natin maipaalam sa ating mga kababayan na siya po ngayon ay muling nagtatrabaho at nasa Malacañang,” told Castro as she confirmed the two meetings Marcos has throughout the afternoon.
