Heads up for residents in the following areas!
In the special weather outlook by ths Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), it revealed the weather systems that will affect the country on Wednesday (December 31) and Thursday (January 1) as the country welcomes the new year.
The weather systems that are expected to affect the country on those days are the Shear line, Northeast Monsoon (Hanging Amihan), and Easterlies.
On Wednesday, the Shear Line is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the provinces of Quezon and Camarines Norte.
Meanwhile partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon due to the Amihan.
As for the rest of the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Palawan, they will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to Easterlies.
The same system will also cause Metro Manila and the rest of the country to have partly cloudy to cloudy skiee, apart from isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
For the first day of 2026, the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Aurora and Quezon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will persist over Ilocos Region, CAR, and Cagayan Valley due to the Amihan.
Bicol Region will be cloudy with scattered rains and thunderstorms while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Easterlies.
“Throughout the forecast period, moderate to strong northeasterly winds will prevail over Northern Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas,” the state weather bureau added.
