Bringing new technologies for manufacturing in the region.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has launched the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) in Davao Region, which is first facility of its kind in the region.
The center, which is located Sentro Mindanaw, Mintal, Davao City, is toured as a “major step toward” strengthening the region’s capacity for Science, Technology, and Innovation.
It will also provide industries and researchers access to advanced manufacturing technologies that can boost productivity and competitiveness.
The launch was led by DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr., together with other officials from the national and regional level.
Regional Director Anthony Sales highlighted DOST’s efforts to build a stronger innovation ecosystem in the region.
He described the facility as the representation of DOST’s continuing commitment to nurture talent, support research, and empower industries while also creating opportunities for communities.
AMCen-Davao will be introducing additive manufacturing or 3D printing, one of the world’s most promising emerging technologies, to the manufacturing scene in the region.
Through which, local innovators and enterprises will be able to design prototypes, improve production processes, and create new products that meet the demands of modern industries.
According to DOST-MIRDC Executive Director Robert Dizon, the center will serve as a vital platform for collaboration between government, academe, and industry.
He noted that AMCen-Davao can help local manufacturers adopt advanced technologies, accelerate research and development, and strengthen the Region’s role in the country’s innovation ecosystem.
Davao City Councilor for Science and Technology, Atty. Antoinette Principe, also underscored the importance of collective support from various sectors to maximize the center’s potential.
