Giving residents a comfortable and safe place to stay during the holiday season.
Last Thursday, December 18, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) yurned over modular shelter units (MSUs) to the local government unit of Mandaue City.
These units, according to Sec.Jose Ramon Aliling, is part of the establishment of Bayanihan Village which has been set up in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Uwan.
“Kasama sa plano ng Mandaue City Bayanihan Village ang mga mahahalagang pasilidad katulad ng day care, clinic, at training o livelihood center para sa mas komportable at may dignidad na pananatili ng ating mga kababayang biktima ng sakuna,” said Aliling.
“Alinsunod po yan sa direktiba ni Pangulong BBM na iabot ang lahat ng tulong sa mga nangangailangan upang mas mabilis silang makabangon,” he added.
The DHSUD has committed about 200 MSUs that will serve as temporary shelters to families displaced by “Uwan” and will house the facilities. Initially, 50 MSUs were turned over to the Mandaue City LGU.
The deployment of MSUs and setting up of Bayanihan Villages to calamity-stricken areas is among the latest innovations of DHSUD. Previously, these have been established in earthquake-stricken areas in Cebu and Davao Oriental provinces.
The MSUs turned over to the San Juan City LGU in Metro Manila is now being occupied by fire victims.
