Allowing athletes to utilize world-class equipment and facilities for their training.
Last December 16, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority signed a new landmark agreement, which will enable Filipino athletes to use more resources to hone their skills.
This, as the parties inked the deal that would give members of the National Training Pool regular access to the brand new and world-class sports facilities inside the New Clark City, which include the Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center, and Athletes’ Village.
This deal is expected to be a major upgrade for national athletes under the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) and Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI).
“This partnership is both logical and inevitable: to provide world-class facilities for world-class athletes,” said PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio.
He added, “This is truly a partnership made in heaven. BCDA develops and manages high-value land and infrastructure, while PSC ensures these facilities are maximized for the training and development of our national teams.”
Meanwhile, BCDA President Joshua Bingcang expressed their side’s commitment and shared, “We will continue unlocking the full potential of BCDA properties so every training ground becomes a launchpad for future world-class Filipino athletes.”
Completed in 2019, the New Clark City boasts state-of-the-art technology and a focus on science-backed training equipment, which are said to have been “designed to support athletes in reaching their full potential.”
Meanwhile, prior to this deal, both the PSC and BCDA have signed a similar deal to establish new training facilities inside Camp John Hay in Baguio City.
