Bringing together powerhouse Korean and global talent in an explosive new chapter of the Extraction universe.

Bringing together powerhouse Korean and global talent in an explosive new chapter of the Extraction universe.

Earlier this week, streaming giant Netflix announced the start of the production process for the upcoming action-thriller film entitled TYGO.

The new film, produced by Big Punch Pictures and AGBO, with co-production by Nova Film Inc and B&C Group, is based on an original graphic novel created by Anthony and Joe Russo and Ande Park and is part of the Extraction universe, which is Netflix’s most-successful action franchise.

Joining forces for the new movie are Don Lee, Lee Jin-uk, and BLACKPINK member Lalisa Manobal or simply known by her mononym Lisa.

TYGO will mark Don Lee’s return to Netflix following his worldwide success with The Roundup franchise and his Marvel debut in The Eternals.

He said, “I’m thrilled that this project, which I’ve been developing for years with AGBO, is finally moving into production. TYGO brings a distinctly Korean identity into the global Extraction universe. We can’t wait to unleash its explosive energy on audiences worldwide.”

Fresh from the global success of Squid Game, Lee Jin-uk shared, “As a fan of the Extraction franchise, it’s a great honor for me to join this universe.”

He added, “I’m especially excited and grateful to be working with Don, whom I’ve always admired, and with Lisa as well. I’ll do my very best to present a film that lives up to your expectations.”

Meanwhile, Lisa, who made her acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3 this year, is looking forward to her first major role in a film.

I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors,” she says. “Being in an action movie has always been a dream of mine, so for my film debut to be such an exciting project feels very special,” the Thai K-pop star said.

Set within the shared universe of Netflix’s global Extraction franchise, TYGO follows the titular character (portrayed by Don Lee), a former child soldier turned mercenary who embarks on a revenge mission through Korea’s underworld after a mission gone wrong.

It promises to blending high-octane action with emotional depth and showcase the “precision and craftsmanship of Korean filmmaking within Netflix’s global scale.

According to Angela Russo-Otstot, producer and chief creative officer of AGBO, the collaboration exemplifies the studio’s ongoing partnership with Netflix and its commitment to international storytelling.

We’re thrilled to explore the world of Extraction through a South Korean lens, teaming up with legendary action star Don Lee and visionary director Lee Sang-yong, whose dynamic choreography exemplifies the world-class craft of Korean cinema,” she said.

Together, we proudly welcome Lisa, a truly multitalented global phenomenon, and Lee Jin-uk, one of Korea’s most charismatic and versatile actors, to lead our cast alongside Don,” added Russo-Otstot.

She also expressed gratefulness to the company’s continued creative partnership with Netflix, with TYGO being their ninth collaboration.

Choi Won-ki, CEO of Nova Film, emphasized the scale and ambition of the project. “Behind TYGO stands a team of seasoned filmmakers and an exceptional cast from Korea and Hollywood, brought together by the global entertainment service Netflix to reach viewers worldwide,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chris Lee, CEO of B&C Group, noted, “This represents the culmination of years of passion and persistence with our partners at AGBO — a bold, Korea-driven film built from the ground up with a global vision. From inception, we set out to unite world-class talent from all over the world, and this collaboration has surpassed every expectation.”
