The top-rating and trending afternoon soap is getting an additional broadcast day.
In the latest plugs aired and uploaded on social media by GMA Network, it announced that its Afternoon Prime series, Cruz Vs. Cruz, will be having an extended run each week.
Beginning November 22, the hit drama will be aired right after the noontime variety program It’s Showtime every Saturday at 2:30 pm.
This broadcast extension comes as the series, topbilled by Vina Gladys Reyes, Neil Ryan Sese, Kristoffer Martin, Lexi Gonzales, and Caprice Cayetano, continues to get high TV ratings and viewership online.
With this development, another GMA drama, Hating Kapatid, will now be airing five days a week, from Monday to Friday, still at its usual post-Showtime slot.
The tradition of airing afternoon dramas six times a week following the noontime variety show began with Ika-6 Na Utos in 2017. For years, the show airing at 2:30 pm on weekdays had been the natural choice for the Saturday slot.
However, there had been instances in the past when that was not the case. One exemption to that rule was the first season of Prima Donnas, which was given the said treatment in February 2020, despite airing every 3:25 pm on weekdays, due to insistent public demand.
Hence, here is how GMA’s afternoon programming block would look like effective this week.
- MONDAY TO FRIDAY
- 2:30 pm – Hating Kapatid
- 3:20 pm – Cruz Vs. Cruz
- 4:05 pm – Unica Hija
- 4:45 pm – Fast Talk With Boy Abunda
- SATURDAY
- 2:30 pm – Cruz Vs. Cruz
- 3:15 pm – Tadhana
- 4:00 pm – Wish Ko Lang!
- 4:45 pm – Maka Lovestream
