He saw the impact that the super typhoon caused on the island province.
On Thursday, November 13, President President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Catanduanes to witness the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong), as well as oversee the continued assistance to affected residents in the area.
During which, Marcos went to the Tubli Elementary School in Caramoran, where he inspected the classrooms damaged by Uwan and another super typhoon, Pepito (Man-yi), in 2024.
The said school, which has a total of 739 student and 30 staff personnel, saw one totally damaged classroom, 14 sustained major damage, while the rest had minor damage as a result of Super Typhoon Uwan.
During which, Marcos handed two units of Starlink internet satellite to Tubli Elementary School and the Caramoran local government unit.
After that, he also inspected the damaged houses, where Caramoran has reported 558 totally damaged houses and 2,127 partially damaged houses.
Despite the seawall, located in the same barangay, able to portect the town, nearly all motor bancas were destroyed during the super typhoon.
Priro to his visit, the chief executive had already instructed government agencies to continue to provide relief and assistance to typhoon-affected residents and help them recover as soon as possible.
The order is also in line with Proclamation No. 1077 signed last November 5, which declares a one-year national state of calamity to facilitate critical disaster response and post-disaster recovery measures.
All national government agencies and affected LGUs were therfore told to continue to coordinate relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
Meanwhile, the assistance extended to residents includes the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), where cash assistance is provided to residents whose homes were destroyed or damaged by Super Typhoon Uwan.
