DepEd allocates P1.35-B for disaster-resilient learning setup

The measure aims to continue education despite weather disturbances or any other disruptions.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 24, the Department of Education (DepEd) said that it has allocated PHP1.35 billion for the printing, delivery, and training related to the Learning Packets at Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) materials.

These materials will be used for the continued delivery of education despite natural disasters, calamities, or any other matter that would disrupt learning.

According to DepEd, the Learning Packets for Grades 1 to 12 are worth PHP950 million, while the Dynamic Learning Program materials for Junior High School learners are priced at PHP399 million.

Public schools are directed to distribute one set of Learning Packet for Grades 1 to Grade 12, with each containing 25 to 50 self-paced activities designed to enhance skills in reading, mathematics, and problem-solving, as well as enrichment activities for a “higher level learning” that will develop life skills.

Meanwhile, the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) will be structured, activity-based lessons that can be done by learners on their own.

They may opt to copy and answer the DLP on paper or notebook, ensuring continued learning even without electricity, gadget, or internet connection.

Local government units (LGUs) are also told that schools in high-risk areas must immediately implement alternative learning modes when in-person classes are suspended.

Regional Directors are also tasked to manage the production and distribution of each material and submit monthly reports.
