Last Monday, October 20, ABS-CBN’s suspense thriller drama What Lies Beneath officially debuted on linear TV platforms and Kapamilya Online Live on Facebook and YouTube.
The pilot episode recorded 517,436 peak concurrent views online as the series showed the intertwined lives of four women who were bestfriends at one point in their lives: Alice (Janella Salvador / teen: Eliza Borromeo), Mel (Sue Ramirez / teen: Reich Alim), Erica (Kaila Estrada / teen: Krystal Mejes), and Beth (Charlie Dizon / teen: Allyson McBride).
Their friendship, known as MABEL, would later be marred by a traumatic incident after being witnesses to the brutal murder of their bestfriend Louisa (Mutya Orquia), but bowed to pressure from policemen and acused Edong (Jake Cuenca) of the crime.
As early as its forest episode, What Lies Beneath has already sparked online discussions and fan theories as the show also rose to the top of the most-viewed TV shows chart in the Philippines of streaming platform Netflix.
