It was a night that celebrated the vibrant local music scene.
On Tuesday, October 21, the inaugural Filipino Music Awards was held at the SM Mall of Asoa Arena in Pasay City.
According to the organizers, the show brought together 500 artists and industry guests, as well as thousands of fans, in one venue.
The program was hosted by Joey Mead King, Michael Sager, and Elijah Canlas, with awards given out to songs and artists across various genres, such as pop, hip-hop, and R&B, among others.
During the night, P-pop Kings SB19 and trending OPM band Cup of Joe, who are both leading in the nominations, emerged as the top winners.
The former, the five-piece group composed of Josh, Stell, Pablo, Felip, and Justin, won in several categories: Pop Song of the Year, People’s Choice Awards: Song, Tour of the Year, Concert of the Year, People’s Choice Awards: Artist, and Artist of the Year.
As for the latter band, they were hailed as the winner of the Album of the Year and Song of the Year categories.

The first Filipino Music Awards is set to air on television this weekend, Saturday (October 25) at 9:45 pm and Sunday (October 26) at 9:30 pm on TV5.
