As the number of cases are steadily going down.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 18, the Department of Health (DOH) disclosed that it has recorded 6,457 cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) from September 28 to October 11.

The agency reported that it is 39% lower than the 10,740 logged during the two-week period from September 14 to 27, 2025.

Although the current numbers are still subject to change due to continued surveillance, the DOH said the figures for the past two weeks is still 25% lower than the 8,628 recorded in the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa had previously clarified that  there is no outbreak concerning ILI and noted that there will be no lockdowns because of it.

Earlier in the week, ILI cases prompted the Department of Education (DepEd) to suspend face-to-face classes in the National Capital Region due to rising cases among learners, teachers, and non-teaching personnel.

Schools were then instructed by DepEd to conduct cleaning and disinfection to prevent the illness from further spreading.

To combat ILI, the Health Department shared the following tips:

  • Regularly wash your hands using soap and water.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.
  • Get enough sleep, have a proper diet, and drink enough water daily.

For those experiencing symptoms, such as fever, coughing, or sore throat or body:

  • Stay at home to prevent infecting others.
  • Drink medication to relieve symptoms, such as paracetamol for fever.
  • Seek consultation from health center, clinics, or hospital for proper treatment.
