The town of Bauan in the province of Batangas will soon become a hive of activity as the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) recently unveiled plans to build the Luzon International Container Terminal (LICT).

The said port, which is  expected to accommodate an estimated two million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per year, including mega vessels, will be the Philippines’ second largest port once completed.

In line with this, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) expressed its full support to the  in the development LICT, which is seen to boost regional economic growth and job creation in the CALABARZON region.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon hailed the world-class container terminal as a possible site of an industrial zone in the province.

Itong Luzon International Container Terminal, by 2028, it will be the second biggest container terminal in the country.

Ibig sabihin nun trabaho. Ibig sabihin nun malaking kita.”

Moreover, he also addressed concerns about traffic in the area and shared, “Magkakaroon tayo ng access road mula dito sa terminal diretso sa Star Tollway. Malapad ‘yan na kalye kung saan ang mga truck natin ay kasyang kasya at hindi makakaistorbo sa daanan ng mga taga Bauan.”

The LICT is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with operations seen to begin by early 2028.
