It will be a world-class event featuring the top athletes of the said sport.
On Monday, July 7, Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena revealed that there will be an upcoming major competition that will take place right at the heart of the Philippines’ central business district later this year.
Falled the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge, the World Athletics-sanctioned event will be happening at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City on September 21, 2025.
“We’re inviting, of course, the top pole vaulters,” with Obiena adding that it was strategically placed right after the Tokyo meet that will be held from September 13-21.
However, he has kept most details under wraps at the moment, with the world number 4 teasing that they will be shared closer to the competition date.
The announcement comes nearly a year after the originally scheduled meet in Manila at the same venue, but was postponed due to EJ’s injury.
Obiena, at that time, also revealed that he competed in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris in August just mere days after undergoing an operation in Italy.
Anyhow, the Filipino athlete proceeded with a much intimate affair when he held his solo fan event in Parañaque City later that year.
