A new look GMA Prime is set to begin airing next week.
According to the latest teaser plug aired by GMA Network, it revealed the new line-up for its weekday evening block starting Monday, June 16.
Right after the flagship Kapuso newscast ’24 Oras,’ the spin-off sequel series ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre’ will finally grace the small screen two years after it was first announced.
Starring the new generation Sang’gres of the realm, Bianca Umali, Faith da Silva, Kelvin Miranda, and Angel Guardian, the much-anticipated telefantasya will air at 8:00 pm.
Next, the action-packed scenes from the fictional Sitio Liwanag will take centerstage on ‘Mga Batang Riles,’ which enters its finale week.
Viewers await how the story of Miguel Tanfelix, Kokoy de Santos, Raheel Bhyria, Anton Vinzon, and Bruce Roeland would end after its successful 5-month run.
Also in the final stretch is the reality program ‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition,’ which will be down on its last three weeks before the Big Night on July 5.
Before that, fans would have tune in first for the season’s 6th eviction night to see who between the three nominated duos—AzVer (AZ Martinez and River Joseph), DusBi (Dustin Yu and Bianca De Vera), and ShuKla (Shuvee Etrata and Klarisse de Guzman)—would leave the house.
Starting June 16, the main ‘PBB’ primetime show would transfer to 9:35 pm on GMA and Kapuso Stream, with a delayed webcast on Kapamilya Online Live at 10:15 pm from Monday to Friday.
AMAZING EARTH
With these developments, the eco-travel show ‘Amazing Earth,’ hosted by the Kapuso Primetime King, Dingdong Dantes, has effectively been plucked from its 9:30 pm slot every Friday.
In fact, the program would also not air its supposed episode on June 13th, due to the finale night of the murder-mystery drama ‘SLAY’.
Given the circumstances, multiple signs point toward a possible move for the long-running feature show back to its original weekend slot.
During its first five years from 2018 to 2023, ‘Amazing Earth’ was aired on either Saturday or Sunday evening, with a brief moment of it airing in the afternoon during the height of the pandemic.
However, following a refresh in June 2023, GMA opted to reassign the comedy gag show ‘Bubble Gang,’ ending its 28-year-run as a Friday night staple and traded ‘AE’ to its original slot.
Since then, the stories about the animal kingdom and nature conservation have remained on the said time slot, although there have been a number of pre-emptions due to special presentations aired by the network.
That said, a possible move to Saturday nights at 9:30 pm could become a no-brainer, given that that time had been occupied by reruns of ‘Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko’ and other Kapuso shows over the past few months.
GMA’s last original program for that time slot was the special limited series ‘Heart World,’ which ended in January.
Hence, transferring ‘Amazing Earth’ would solve two problems at once—with the first being the network finally embracing a five-nights-a-week practice for its entire GMA Prime block and the second, an original show for the mid-Saturday evening slot.
At present, GMA has yet to confirm the new time slot for ‘Amazing Earth’ beginning the week of June 16 to 22.
Meanwhile, here is how GMA Prime would look like starting Monday.
