On Saturday, May 17, TV5 premiered new programs to further beef up its weekend line-up of shows.

FRONTLINE EXPRESS SABADO

First of the set to take the airwaves is the Saturday edition of its afternoon rolling news program ‘Frontline Express‘.

Presenting the expanded version of the said newscast is ‘Frontline Pilipinas Weekend‘ anchor Nikki de Guzman, who previously did shifts for the hourly news bulletin show ‘News5 Alerts‘ every weekend.

The first edition of ‘Frontline Express‘ every Saturday airs immediately right after ‘Eat Bulaga‘ at 2:30 pm and runs for 10 minutes.

Following the rerun of the 2000 Mexican telenovelaRosalinda,’ the news program returns for a second bulletin that runs approximately the same length.

With this development, here is how TV5’s Saturday afternoon block currently looks like as of May 17.

  • 11:30 am – Eat Bulaga
  • 2:30 pm – Frontline Express
  • 2:40 pm – Rosalinda
  • 3:50 pm – Frontline Express
  • 4:00 pm – Rated Korina

The premiere of ‘Frontline Express‘ on Saturday afternoons is the prelude to the shake-up in the primetime block on the same night.

EMOJINATION, MASKED SINGER

Right after ‘Frontline Pilipinas Weekend,’ Maja Salvador’s game show ‘Emojination‘ returns for its fifth season—now co-hosted by comedians Chamyto and Chad Kinis.

It airs every 5:30 pm, effectively cutting down the weekend newscast to 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, singing contest ‘Sing Galing‘ is also getting its own set of changes effective this week.

In contrast to its single-day 90-minute run in the past weeks, the show has been trimmed to run for only 45 minutes on Saturdays at 6:30 pm, with a new second edition airing every Sunday at 6:45 pm.

Quickly succeeding the broadcast of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent‘ is the comeback of ‘Masked Singer Pilipinas‘ for its third season, hosted by Billy Crawford.

The show, which airs 8:30 pm on Saturdays and 8:45 pm on Sundays, features 16 masked singers that will compete to become the next champ of the localized reality franchise from South Korea.

Judging them is the panel composed of Pops Fernandez, Janno Gibbs, and Arthur Nery.

The highlight of the show is TV comeback of award-winning actress-singer Nadine Lustre after 8 years.

Here is how TV5’s Saturday primetime looks like effective today.

  • 5:00 pm – Frontline Pilipinas Weekend
  • 5:30 pm – Emojination
  • 6:30 pm – Sing Galing
  • 7:15 pm – Pilipinas Got Talent
  • 8:30 pm – Masked Singer Pilipinas 3

Every Sunday, meanwhile, the grid has a slightly different timetable.

  • 5:15 pm – Frontline Pilipinas Weekend
  • 6:00 pm – Kapatid Mo, Idol Raffy Tulfo
  • 6:45 pm – Sing Galing
  • 7:30 pm – Pilipinas Got Talent (delayed)

The new programming is part of an ongoing slate revamp in TV5, which will also affect its weekday block starting May 19, with the notable addition of hit Viva One series ‘Ang Mutya Ng Section E‘ every weeknight at 6:45 pm.
