GMA Network sees advertising revenue uptick during first three months of 2025

In its financial statement disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange, media giant GMA Network, Inc. (PSE: GMA7) reported the company’s latest financial standing as of the first quarter of 2025.

According to the Kapuso network, which remains the leading broadcaster in the country, advertising revenue across its channels and platforms stood at Php 4.339 billion, a 29 percent surge from Q1 2024 when it logged Php 3.363 billion.

The leading commercial TV and radio station, as per Nielsen Philippines, also said that the advertising revenues remained the largest chunk of its total revenue pie.

Television and Radio broadcasting both enjoyed upbeat sales, buoyed by the influx of political advocacies and advertisements in view of the upcoming midterm elections in May.”

GMA Network also shared that its flagship channel had a “commendable double-digit sales hike from a year ago,” adding that revenue from regular customers also edged out figures during the same figure in the first quarter of 2024.

The mothership also continued to lord the TV ratings game, with its weekly newsmagazine show ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho‘ remaining as the most-watched Sunday primetime show according to the Total Philippines survey of the Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Meanwhile, flagship newscast ‘24 Oras‘ has the highest viewership amongst the three major weekday primetime newscast, on top of its long list of accolades.

Radio stations DZBB Super Radyo 594 and Barangay LS 97.1 have consistently secured supremacy in the ratings game in Metro Manila, with respective audience share figures of 53.6% and 41.3% percent as of March 2025.

Online, GMA Network was also able to flex its leadership, as it registered higher digital engagement that helped propel its growth. Its official YouTube channel also crossed 38 million subscribers by the end of March this year.

Despite these successes, on one hand, GMA’s secondary channel GTV registered a “slowdown in revenues by a single-digit, with barely any election-related boost.

Digital TV channels Heart of Asia and I Heart Movies, on the other hand, stagnated and finished the first revenue at par with its results in the first quarter of 2024.

Its consumer sales also saw an 18% increase during the first three months of 2025, increasing to Php 345.85 million from its Php 293.17 million recorded in Q1 2024.

Meanwhile, other key financial figures were also declared in the statement.

The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) was Php 1.647 billion, a notable 106% hike from the first three months of last year.

Regarding its expenses, the network shared that there was a 7% increase in production and direct costs, while the general and administrative expenses had a 3% jump, totalling to Php 3.654 billion in Q1 2025.

As for the consolidated bottom line of GMA Network, Inc., settled at Php 801 million—way ahead of its Php 203 million logged in the first quarter of 2024.
